NCAA SEMI v ODU recap

So, the TERPS were just awesome last night. 4 – 0 over ODU and it was never
close! The TERPS had 2 in the first half and 2 in the second, making 4 of their
8 total shots on goal. AND shut out the Monarchs! Mels had 6 saves including
some acrobatic stops in the 2nd half to preserve that shutout. The sideline
was electric as the clock ticked and ticked down to zero!! We were confident
we had won but a final PC chased some of the TERPS back to the sideline….
for oh about 20 secs and then the celebration began. It was a WOW night
for sure.

The TERPS took their practice time this AM, had some lunch and chose to
stay in or go to the movies...Twilight it was. Dinner and meeting tonight and
then going for their championship game rest. The 3rd straight meeting with
UNC for the NCAA title gets underway at 12p. Game is streaming live on
NCAA.com, not sure if there is TV! Hopefully the weather cooperates one
more day!!

TERPS at Duke

Our TERPS are looking to win their 11th game at Duke tomorrow
at 1pm. We had a very relaxed, fairly traffic free ride to Durham
this morning and arrived at our Courtyard in time for lunch. Cold
cuts, rice cakes, fruit all sooo good. An hour later we were off to
practice at Duke. Weather cooperating big time...it was beautiful
today!! Same for tomorrow....yea!!

Jemma, Megan, Jill and Katie Gerz have been on a tear the last
8 games scoring at least 6 ea in this stretch. Mels and Nat have
kept our opponents off the board with their goal tending.
Everyone is doing their part and doing it well. Looking for the
same tomorrow.

TERPS v UMass

TERPS come away with OT victory at Boston College Friday
night with the 2nd of Max Fluharty's goals giving the TERPS
the win - 6-1, 1-0. Max's 1st goal of the game came about 24
mins into the goal for a 1-0 TERPS lead. BC countered and we
had a 1-1 tie coming to the end of a kind of frantic 1st half,
when!!, BC scored, taking a 2-1 lead into the half....hhmmm

NOT FOR LONG....Megan Frazer tied the score on a TERPS
penalty corner and again back and forth, up and down the field
with the TERPS mostly opportunistic but nothing to show until
Katie Gerzabek tipped the ball past the BC goalie, from Ali Mc
on yet another of the TERPS 11 penalty corners. 3-2 TERPS but
time left. BC again tied it up near the end of regulation and off to
OT for the first time this year!

In the OT period the TERPS outshot BC 6-0 and the winner was
scored by Max from a Jemma Buckly feed at about the 14 minute
mark of the first OT period. BREATHE - TERPS win 4-3 and get
out of Chestnut Hill with the W....maybe not pretty but a W

Facing UMass tomorrow at noon at Garber Field in Amherst. Hearing
it is on premium TV - also Gametracker. Follow Twitter...pretty sure
there will be updates there...etc).

slowed the TERPS but we got to BC in time for a walk, stretch
and jog before heading over to the field for a "Competition
Day" practice. Thenback to Cambridge for California Pizza
Kitchen dinner.

TERPS going over to BC for walk thru this AM and then

TERPS Win!

The #3 TERPS got the W today at home with a 3-0 victory over Northwestern.
The game was back and forth early on until Jill Witmer took a pass from Nikki
Fernandez and hit the board!! TERPS up. Just before halftime, Katie Gerzabek
deflected a shot into the goal making it 2-0 TERPS going to the half. Maxine
Fluharty scored her first goal as a TERP in the 2nd half on another deflected
shot on a penalty corner.

TERPS outshot, had more penalty corners and generally controlled the game.
Mels had a save on the day and so did Colleen Gulick - well done!!

TERPS are 4-1 now and play tomorrow versus Villanova at 2PM at the complex.

Hope to see you here!!

GAME DAY

We had a great meeting w Dr. Joel Fish last night and a delicious meal
at Maggiano's in the city. Filled, we journeyed back to the hotel for a team
meeting where in addition to strategy, the "egg" was unveiled. Arriving
in the Finland reindeer cap, the decorated "egg" was well received. The
"egg" will be awarded to our player of each game this year!

So, we are waking up to overcast and cloudy this AM. Getting ready for
a walk/run, then pregame meal followed by a final team meeting and

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The TERPS held on last night, prevailing 3-2 over Wake and will take on Virginia in the ACC Championship game tomorrow at noon.

The TERPS jumped out to a 1-0 lead courtesy of an OD steal and great pass to Nicole Muracco in front of the goal. With about 10 minutes left, Emma Thomas converted a penalty corner to give the TERPS a 2-0 lead. First half was choppy for both teams but the TERPS had the edge going into halftime.

The second half opened just about the same. Lot of play in between the 25's with a few shots and one or two corners. With 25 minutes left though, the TERPS broke through. Bri stole a pass at half field and sprinted down the far sideline and crossed the ball to Ameliet Rischen who sent it in for the TERPS goal and a 3-0 lead. But just about 30 seconds after, Wake scored. TERPS 3-1.

After a TERP timeout, Maryland got control and took the next 5 shots but put nothing on the board. Wake then had the next 6 opportunities with nothing to show until they scored on a rebounded penalty corner shot at about the 27 minute mark. The TERPS get the goaltending nod with Ali G's 6 saves, 4 in the second half.

Watch the game tomorrow on Comcast Sports Net or listen on wmucsports.com.
