2009 ACC CHAMPIONS

The TERPS battled for 70 minutes with UVa today, overcoming a 2-0 deficit with 2 second-half goals and then holding on to force overtime. In OT, our 7 got possession, forced the play, got the corner and scored! The celebration began and rightly so. The TERPS are Champions in the toughest conference in the country.

So we wait now for NCAA pairings and sites on Tuesday. Thinking we will be at home on Sat and Sun. Hope to see you all there.

Thank you parents and fans for your support throughout the weekend with your posters, signs, decorations, goodie bags and just being there! Can't do it without you!!

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The TERPS held on last night, prevailing 3-2 over Wake and will take on Virginia in the ACC Championship game tomorrow at noon.

The TERPS jumped out to a 1-0 lead courtesy of an OD steal and great pass to Nicole Muracco in front of the goal. With about 10 minutes left, Emma Thomas converted a penalty corner to give the TERPS a 2-0 lead. First half was choppy for both teams but the TERPS had the edge going into halftime.

The second half opened just about the same. Lot of play in between the 25's with a few shots and one or two corners. With 25 minutes left though, the TERPS broke through. Bri stole a pass at half field and sprinted down the far sideline and crossed the ball to Ameliet Rischen who sent it in for the TERPS goal and a 3-0 lead. But just about 30 seconds after, Wake scored. TERPS 3-1.

After a TERP timeout, Maryland got control and took the next 5 shots but put nothing on the board. Wake then had the next 6 opportunities with nothing to show until they scored on a rebounded penalty corner shot at about the 27 minute mark. The TERPS get the goaltending nod with Ali G's 6 saves, 4 in the second half.

Watch the game tomorrow on Comcast Sports Net or listen on wmucsports.com.

GO TERPS!!

ACC TOURNAMENT

The #1 seeded TERPS will be playing #4 Wake Forest at 4PM in the first ACC Tournament semifinal tomorrow. Wake defeated Boston College 4-3 today to move to the semis.

The TERPS practiced this AM, lunched and had some free time before going back to the field to watch the second half of the Wake/BC game. The rest of the afternoon was rest and relax.

And so, the second season starts. The TERPS have had a great regular season and are looking to extend that play deep into the post season. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the game.

GO TERPS!!
